UNLEASH YOUR CREATIVITY AND DISCOVER THE GENIUS WRITER WITHIN! 9AM-1.30PM at The Hobart Library

Are you an expert procrastinator? Does writing ever feel like a painful, plodding process? Do you easily slide into overwhelm and critical paralysis, even to the extent of not letting yourself write? Do you ever feel blocked and afraid that nothing you write will be good enough?

You already have what it takes. We all, without exception, have an extraordinary and unique creative ability waiting to be awakened. Inside each of us is a font of creativity that can be readily and effortlessly tapped into. In this fun, energetic and transformative workshop, you’ll learn how to trick your brain into flow through a variety of tools, techniques and exercises that enable you to access your subconscious creative genius, switch off the inner critic, and glide through portals into your story. You’ll discover how to transcend your fears, overcome blocks, and make the writing process one of joyous self-discovery.

MAKING IT GOOD ENOUGH PUBLISH! 2PM-5PM at TasWriters

What’s the difference between a good story and a good story that will be published?

Often it comes down to simple mistakes that mark out the amateur from the pro.

Race through a dynamic, non-stop self-editing workout that gets results! Take a shortcut and save yourself twenty years of slog – with this invaluable distillation of an author’s real-life experiences working with twenty editors from ten major publishing houses. Learn how to keep up pace and hurdle common literary pitfalls, as well as push-up pointers for creating three dimensional characters and enriching stories with sensory writing to achieve a personal best. Train yourself to recognise flaws in your writing and troubleshoot to win the trifecta: an addictive story with a great plot, pacing and characterisation. Strenuous self-editing exercises will enable you to dig beyond stereotypical story slush to find true gold!
