This class is all about ‘writing through it’. Writing life stories to nurture and support ourselves through some difficult memories and experiences. It’s about the power writing has to move us forward.

The inspiration for this class comes from my own personal experience of writing to heal and remember.

My sister died in a car accident 25 years ago. For most of that 25 years I found it difficult to experience memories of Rachael, other than the memory of the day she died – replayed like a broken record.

When I began to write my manuscript, Soul Sisters, I began to tap into memories I thought were boxed forever with her ashes.

I am in the process of working on revisions of my manuscript. I’m hoping to publish one day. Whether it makes it that far or not - the memories have soothed my grief. The writing has helped me through it.

Tara Bufton – I have been teaching in High Schools and Colleges for

23 years. My Creative Writing classes have been one of the highlights

of my career. My students give me feedback every year that they

have learnt so much about writing and have also found a space

where they feel supported and safe and free to share ideas, feedback

and a lovely cup of hot chocolate. Many of my students have also

been recipients of writing awards.
