Humans have a very special relationship with nature. We are from nature, of nature, part of nature. And increasingly, we are impacting nature. These aspects make writing about nature in many ways attractive, in some ways daunting, and these days, important. However, striking just the right balance between nature-as-wonder, nature-as-entity, and nature-as-resource can be challenging.

In this workshop, participants will work through a series of writing exercises, each followed by a group discussion. Participants will have the opportunity to share their writing and solicit feedback through each exercise.

In this interactive context, participants will hone their skills in communicating about nature to a popular audience. Participants can expect to discover their personal strengths and challenges in their own communication style, and to navigate through them in a positive and engaging atmosphere.

There are no prerequisites necessary for this workshop. Please come with a willingness to actively participate in the writing and discussions.

What to bring: Participants are asked to have paper and pens/pencils for the writing exercises.
