Creative Writing with Kim Bambrook
This FREE workshop is for young people aged 12-14 years
You are invited to join local Tasmanian author, Kim Bambrook, for a three hour Creative Writing workshop at the Hobart Library on Saturday 16th August, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The only criteria required to join this workshop is that you are 12 to 14 years of age and wish to learn and/or develop creative writing skills. Hot drinks and snacks will be available on the day.
Writing empowers us, as it is a conscious act. In this age of social media and technology, it is easy to be influenced by what we see and hear rather than what is within us. This can be entirely subconscious. Storytelling is an ancient practice and when stories are written down, they demand attention. Reading what we write is in itself a form of therapy and enables us to better understand ourselves. We can write for self and also to pass on stories and information to others.
In this workshop, Kim will teach you about structure, formatting and cohesiveness and you will have the opportunity to apply these skills to a writing piece of your choosing. The goal is that by the end of the session you have some valuable writing skills to take home so that you can pursue creative writing with more confidence. Lock it in!'
Kim Bambrook is the author of Undertow, a fictional Tasmanian adventure, survival novel. She contributed a poem to the recent publication, Voices of the Southern Ocean, and is currently working on both a children's book and an anthology of poetry.
This workshop is free of charge, thanks to the support of the Tasmanian Department of Premier and Cabinet.
