The art of crafting words into a picture book story might seem like an easy task, but if writing a novel seems tricky, then, writing the same story using less than 1000 words is tricky, too. In this workshop, Christina will show you the introductory tools to writing your picture book. How to build an idea, how to tell a story in very few words, and how to edit so that every word counts. We will also look at how the words and illustrations work together. How do we decide what part of the story will be told by the words and what part will be told visually?

Christina Booth is an award winning, internationally published author of over twenty books for children. Two of her books have won The Environment Award for Children's Literature, and in 2020, she was shortlisted in the Prime Minister's Literary Awards. Her story, Kip, won an Honour Book Award in the CBCA Book of the Year Awards. In her former life, Christina was a classroom teacher, and still loves to work with children, teens and adults, helping them to pursue their writing dreams and to have their stories heard.
