Do you have a first draft of your novel and are wondering what to do next?

We'll discuss techniques for assessing your own work: moving the plot forward, developing character, emotional transitions and focusing on the theme or message you want to convey. Learn how to use the stages of macro editing (structural) and micro editing (copy edit/proofreading) effectively, tips for seeking feedback, and what to expect when your manuscript goes through the editing process in a publishing house.

Stephanie Parkyn is the author of three historical fiction novels published by Allen & Unwin. Her first novel 'Into the World' was written while living in Hobart and was longlisted for the Tasmania Book Prize. She is excited to be back in Hobart thanks to the Salamanca Art Centre Arts Residency Program and looks forward to discussing the art and craft of storytelling with other enthusiastic writers.
