Writing for the Stage:

Finding your way in and the momentum of Joy

with Rosemary Cann

In this playwriting workshop, participants will learn about traditional storytelling structure and character archetypes, as well as innovative ways to approach writing, editing and polishing works for the stage; including maintaining curiosity and joy in the process.

Rosemary Cann is an accomplished playwright, writer, musician and improviser based in Nipaluna/Lutruwita, whose practice spans theatre, devised performance and poetry. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, English Literature and Anthropology, and a Master of Arts in Creative Writing (Script and Screen), grounding her work in both performance and narrative craft.

Rosemary’s work has been showcased at Midsumma Arts Festival and supported through Arts Tasmania's Artist Residency, Performing Lines TAS, the Erin Thomas Playwriting Fund, the Blue Cow Theatre Legacy Fund and the Salamanca Arts Centre Emergence Program. She has developed new plays through programs with ATYP, Performing Lines TAS and Blue Cow Theatre, and contributes to the sector as a dramaturg, mentor and advocate for bold, inclusive and queer-centred Tasmanian work.
